Celebrating Brigid 1500 through song, with primary schools in Kildare
Kildare County Council Arts Office, Music Generation Kildare and Sing Ireland have joined forces to develop a group singing project for primary school children and young people throughout County Kildare.
Brigid Sings is a collaborative project that has commissioned 5 female singer-songwriters from County Kildare to compose a new song to celebrate the life of Brigid. Each song focuses on different elements of Brigid's life and story, bringing her accomplishments and work to life.
Each song is accompanied by illustrations that capture the lyrics and ideas of the songs. For this element of the project we have been working with Laura Dempsey of @pickledpompom.

In April and May 2024, Music Generation Kildare Musicians and musicians from the Sing Ireland team will be traveling Kildare, working with children and young people throughout the county to learn and perfrom the songs and explore Brigid's story through music.
On the 8 June 2024, the participating schools and the five singer songwriters will come together for a Gala perfromance of Brigid Sings in St Brigid's Cathedral in Kildare Town. The perfromance is supported by Creative Ireland Kildare.
