Orla Flanagan

International Choral Conducting Summer School

Orla Flanagan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music,
Trinity College Dublin. She has established an international profile as a
choral conductor, as evidenced by her performances, awards,
commissions, collaborations, CD recordings and invitations to perform
and adjudicate at major international choral competitions.

Orla’s work with professional choral ensembles includes Milltown
Chamber Choir, EnsemBéal, and Ireland’s two leading professional
choirs, Resurgam, and Chamber Choir Ireland, with whom she
performed at the White House for President Barack Obama.

As conductor of Mornington Singers, a multi-award-winning mixed-voice
choral ensemble, she has achieved significant success at competitions
and festivals of the highest international calibre in Ireland, Italy, Canada,
France, Latvia and Slovenia. The choir was awarded the Grand Prix at
the International Baltic Sea Choir Competition in Jūrmala, Latvia. As a
conductor, Orla has also gained multiple individual awards, including the
MacCurtain & McSwiney Award for programming at Cork International Choral Festival on three occasions, and a special prize for interpretation at the International Choral Competition, Maribor, Slovenia. Orla and the choir are committed to the creation and promotion of contemporary  music and have released two CD recordings of contemporary Irish choral works, with another forthcoming in 2027.
