Singing In Early Childhood
Star Songs
Thanks to the support of funding from the Arts Council of Ireland and the Arts in Early Learning and Childcare Scheme 2024, Sing Ireland is launching a new programme in collaboration the County Childcare Committees in Dublin City, Roscommon, South Dublin and Waterford.
Working with settings in each county, along with a team of Sing Ireland Musicians, StarSongs will use singing to promote confidence building and creative development in early childhood. It will encourage children to explore their sense of self by using their voice.
We look forward to sharing updates as the programme develops and if you have any questions or would like to find out more, you can email info@singireland.ie.
The programme will:
• Use singing as a means of creativity in early childhood.
• Promote self-agency and self-discovery through singing.
•Develop skills in children to explore their own abilities through exploring playing with sounds and physical movements.
Over the course of the programme, the settings and musicians will collaborate with composers Seán Doherty and Laura Shiels, who will each composer a set of songs for the settings that respond to the needs and interests of the participating children.
