Douglas Harmonia Singers are seeking a new Musical Director.
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing our long established 3-part upper voices choir, currently numbering approx. 40 members. We are a friendly group who enjoy both singing and socialising together. We sing a varied repertoire, including jazz, folk, popular, traditional and sacred pieces and enjoy participating in a mix of competitions (such as The Cork International Choral festival, Feis Maitiu) as well as participating in local concerts, charity events, masses etc. Douglas Harmonia Singers rehearse weekly (mid September to mid May) on Mondays, 8pm – 10pm, in the Ardfallen Centre, Douglas Road, Cork, with the support of a professional accompanist.
We would love if the successful candidate has the following:
- Experience of/Interest in leading rehearsals, teaching vocal techniques and promoting high standards of performance.
- The ability to encourage choir members to develop their singing skills and enjoy a positive and fun atmosphere.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with the Choir Committee to plan the year's schedule (including events, repertoire and competition entries); identify developmental opportunities for the Choir both locally and nationally and work together with all choir members to ensure a fun & collaborative environment.
Rehearsals will restart Mid September 2025.
This role is perfect for someone who can both challenge and nurture singers, ensuring engaging and enjoyable performances whilst having fun along the way!
