Aurora is looking to welcome a few new members this September, with a particular need for tenors and basses/baritones.
We are a small, friendly choral ensemble of 13 singers, led by our Musical Director, Gloria Smith. Since forming in 2022, we've built a repertoire that reflects our love of beautiful, contemporary choral music. We sing works by composers such as Elaine Hagenberg, Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre and Christopher Tin, while also enjoying music inspired by ensembles like Voces Eight, the UCD Scholars and choral arrangements of songs by The Cranberries—so there's something for everyone! We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:15pm–9:00pm (September to June) in Powerscourt National School, Enniskerry.
Throughout the year we enjoy performing at a number of events, including Culture Night, our Christmas Concert, and our Spring Concert in June.
Who are we looking for?
A love of singing is the most important thing! Because we're a small ensemble, every voice plays an important role, so we're ideally looking for confident singers with some choral experience. That said, you don't need to be able to read music—we provide learning tracks for every part to help you prepare. There is some practice involved outside rehearsals to learn your own part, but working in a small group means there's plenty of time to learn, develop and bring the music to life together.
