Details: Terenure College Community Choir wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated
Choir Director from early September 2026. This is a part-time position, perfect for an
energetic and creative individual who would enjoy working with this adult SATB choir
who sing a varied repertoire of sacred and secular music.

Responsibilities:
● To direct the choir from September-end May, for rehearsals on Thursdays
(19:30-21:15), regular chapel events (2 Sunday masses per
term/Christmas/Easter).
● To challenge the choir musically and progress involvement in events such as
concerts and choral festivals.
● To work closely with the Chairperson and Committee, and to support the
structure and rules of the choir.
● To liaise with the Prior of the Carmelite Order and the organist to ensure the
successful planning of each chapel event.
● To provide, in good time, the list of music required for the next
rehearsal/event, ensuring that music and audio files (where necessary) are
uploaded to Dropbox.
● To advise the Committee when the purchase of copyright is required and to
ensure that music is not performed without it.

Essential Criteria:
The successful candidate will have achieved a music degree (BA, BMus etc.) and/or
a recognised music diploma (ARIAM LTCL etc.), along with proven experience as a
choral conductor, directing an SATB choir. This person should be able to
demonstrate excellence in motivating an adult choir towards musical improvement
through good communication.
Terms & Conditions:
● The choir’s year runs from September to end May in three terms.
● Rehearsals take place on Thursdays, 19:30-21:15
● Fees (open to negotiation)
€150 per rehearsal
€175 per Mass
